The high tourist season in Zimbabwe is from December up to April. This is generally when tourists visit our country, so be sure to book your accommodation well in advance!

When not to visit:

The months of August and September are generally scorching and humid, and you should try and plan your trip outside these months if possible. If not, however, make sure you take some supplies with you such as; plenty of sunscreens, mosquito repellent, and a hat – we want all our visitors to enjoy their stay here!

Where to go During The Fall In Zimbabwe:

The Great Zimbabwe Ruins:

The Great Zimbabwe ruins are undoubtedly one of the most important historical sites in this country; it has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list! Be sure not to miss out on visiting them when you’re here!

They are located just outside Masvingo. China more Waterfalls: These waterfalls are locally known as ‘Mutarazi Falls.’ The best time to visit these falls would be after rainfall, especially between December and March. They are only an hour away from Harare, so they quickly make for a day trip!

The Eastern Highlands:

The Eastern Highlands are known to be one of the most beautiful places to visit in Zimbabwe. There are plenty of places perfect for relaxation, but also activities such as; mountain climbing and waterfalls can easily be reached when you’re here!

Victoria Falls:

Victoria Falls is, without a doubt, Zimbabwe’s biggest attraction. Be sure not to miss out on enjoying this natural wonder while you’re here! It is approximately two hours away from Harare, so make plans ahead if you want to stay close by when you visit!

What to see During The Winter In Zimbabwe:

Hwange National Park

Experience the magic of elephants, lions, and other wildlife roaming freely in their natural habitat at one of Zimbabwe’s oldest national parks. Hwange National Park also offers visitors the unique opportunity to connect with wild African dogs.

This endangered species is under threat due to habitat loss, disease, and poaching for their fur (for sale). Being nomadic hunters, they are very social, making them an exciting sight when you find them!

The park also boasts a thriving rehabilitation center for orphaned or injured animals which aids in releasing these animals back into the wild. 2-3 night stays are allowed but note that there are no facilities inside the park so staying outside town is advisable to see all the animals.

One of the best camps to stay at is Camp Hwange, which offers a luxurious yet rustic safari experience!

Mana Pools National Park

Home to Africa’s most stunning scenery, Mana Pools National Park is one of Zimbabwe’s national treasures.

Its landscape features five major river basins and has been protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986.

Surrounded by sheer cliffs, the park is also home to elephants, buffalo, leopards, crocodiles, hippos, and cheetahs! The park can be accessed from both Zimbabwe and Zambia, making it an excellent stop for those traveling between these two countries along the famous Zambezi River.

With summer temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius, this epic season is perfect for enjoying Zimbabwe’s many waterfalls and other natural attractions. It’s also an excellent time for birdwatching at Mana Pools. You will enjoy incredible wildlife viewing opportunities in Mana Pools National Park during fall around the end of November when the Zambezi River begins to rise.

Weather in ZIMBABWE:

Zimbabwe has a subtropical climate and experiences scorching temperatures during the summer months. The average high is around 32 degrees Celsius (91 Fahrenheit) from January to March, but temperatures can rise as high as 35-40 degrees Celsius (95-104 Fahrenheit).

In the winter months from May to August, nighttime temps reach negative figures. Daytime highs reach around 15 degrees Celsius (60 Fahrenheit)

However, precipitation is highest during the summer months, making travel more difficult at this time of year. It also means that wildlife viewing opportunities are best in the wild during these months. Do not be put off, though! You can still enjoy an incredible safari experience here, even if it does rain!
